Chamber hires Alex Shearn as coordinator
January 24, 2018
The Aiken Chamber welcomed Alex Shearn as its new Information Services Coordinator January 2. Shearn manages the front desk operations of the Chamber as well as its website and social media accounts. She assists visitors to the office, serves as the liaison for SCORE and supports the Chamber’s goals and initiatives. Shearn learned of the open position at the Chamber on the Chamber’s job board, which she will also now manage.
Shearn moved to Aiken from Myrtle Beach in late December. She has a degree in communications from Coastal Carolina University and was active with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce as an ambassador. She served on the steering committee for the gsSCENE, the Grand Strand’s young professional organization. Her work experience is in marketing, sales and retail management.
“My boyfriend and I already feel like we belong in Aiken and this is home,” Shearn said. “We were fortunate to find a home near downtown, and I enjoy riding my bike to work and to downtown. This easy lifestyle is just what we were seeking.”
“The Aiken Chamber’s Compelling Place to Live task force report showed that young professionals are looking for exactly what Alex said – an easy work, live and play lifestyle,” said Chamber President/CEO J. David Jameson. “She is an excellent example of the next generation workforce Aiken is seeking to attract.”
