First Friday Means Business to feature Fort Gordon Cyber Commandís impact on Aiken
Fort Gordon is one of the largest economic engines in the Central Savannah River Area. The addition of new missions in 2013, specifically cyber command, and existing mission expansion began unprecedented growth to the installation, increasing the Fort's workforce to over 26,000 in 2016.
With the continued addition of over 2,500 more employees projected through 2020, counting spouses and other family members, the Army estimates a total 13,000 new residents in the region by 2020.
The development of such a workforce on the base will also trigger more cybersecurity investment by private businesses, stimulating further economic development in the surrounding area, including Aiken.
Tom Clark, Executive Director of the CSRA Alliance, will be the featured speaker at the Aiken Chamber’s First Friday Means Business breakfast August 4.
The Alliance’s mission is to promote, coordinate and advocate for the Fort Gordon Cyber District to stimulate investment in cyber growth and capitalize on opportunities for all in the area to benefit from the Fort. He will specifically address the expected impact on Aiken.
In addition to Clark’s presentation, there will be updates from the City, County, Chamber and August’s First Friday Means Business sponsor Security Federal Bank. Chamber members who wish to register for the August First Friday Means Business should click here.
