First Friday to feature first in series
The first in the series “Making it in Aiken County” will begin at the April 5th First Friday Means Business. The three-part series highlighting local manufacturers saw record crowds last year and is back by popular demand.
The April 5th program will feature Cindy Reinhart, manager of Learning and Development for Metso Paper, Inc. She will provide a little history about the company, what it produces, the markets in which the products are used, and the impact the company has on the local economy.
“Our members told us how much they appreciated the opportunity to learn about our local manufacturers last year, so we decided to bring the series back,” said Chamber President J. David Jameson.
Reinhart will be followed by John Pownall, plant manager of Kimberly-Clark Corporation, on May 3, and Fran Jones, vice president of Administrative Services for Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations Aiken Off Road Plant, on June 7.
“Aiken County enjoys a strong manufacturing base, which strengthens our community’s economy and adds value to our quality of life. Our manufacturers’ commitment to the community has paid off in new jobs, increased tax base, and an expanded industry mix,” Jameson said.
“I think everyone who attends this First Friday series will walk away with an understanding of, and appreciation for, what is made right here in our own backyard. In fact, the programs will probably be an eye-opener for many.”
