New SC Chamber president to speak
Ted Pitts, new president and CEO of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, will be the featured speaker at the February 6 First Friday Means Business.
Pitts will introduce himself to the Aiken business community and address the SC Chamber’s 2015 initiatives. He will also share his thoughts on where he sees the chamber, the state’s unified voice of business, going in the future.
Pitts joined the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce as executive vice president last November and was named president and CEO on January 1, 2015.
A graduate of Presbyterian College, he most recently served as chief of staff for South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, having joined the staff as deputy chief of staff in January 2011. He serves as a major in the South Carolina Army National Guard, and he served in the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 69 in Lexington County, from 2003 to 2010. Prior to joining the Office of the Governor in 2011, Pitts was a commercial real estate broker for 11 years, where he made partner with Newmark Grubb Wilson Kibler in Columbia.
