New "Welcome Aiken" showcases the community

The 2011 edition of "Welcome Aiken," which arrived in members' mailboxes in mid December, features numerous scenes of Aiken. The front cover is symbolic of the diversity of things to do and see in and around the community.

"Our goal was to show residents, visitors and potential residents the many amenities and choices they have in our community," said Chamber President/CEO J. David Jameson.  "It never ceases to amaze me how much is available for people of all ages here," Jameson said.

The 2011 edition of the popular publication is full of useful community information for locals and visitors alike.  The business directory in the back of the publication lists the Aiken Chamber members and can serve as a phone book for those looking for various goods and services.

Three feature articles provide valuable information and offer a glimpse of those activities that make Aiken the diverse, thriving community that so many are proud to call home.

The first feature story covers Aiken's enduring appeal from yesterday to today, including its many characteristics that exemplify a rich heritage, impeccable beauty, and a strong sense of community.

The second feature article introduces the reader to the numerous sports opportunities available to youth.  From baseball to softball, tennis, golf, soccer, and a host of other sports, numerous entities have stepped up to the plate to ensure strong, viable sports programs for youth at all levels.

The final feature of "Welcome Aiken," covers Aiken's Makin', the popular arts and crafts show in downtown Aiken.  The annual event turns 35-years old in September 2011.
