SCORE chapter wins platinum award at conference

Greater Aiken SCORE was recognized as a Platinum Chapter at the 2015 SCORE National Conference. The Platinum Award is the highest award presented to a local SCORE chapter and designates the Greater Aiken chapter as the best SCORE chapter in South Carolina.

Areas of accomplishment for 2015 were:

33 certified SCORE mentors, nine new mentors added in last three months

187 new clients

409 total clients; 24 percent currently in business

25 seminars conducted for small businesses and entrepreneurs

525 seminar attendees

10 advisory boards serving existing businesses

In addition to these accomplishments, Greater Aiken SCORE has significantly improved its recognition within the Greater Aiken area by updating its chapter Web page and actively engaging clients and seminar attendees via emails - an area which has also drawn positive recognition from the national SCORE office.

Local Aiken SCORE clients My Aiken Body Restorative Massage and Aiken Active Seniors have received national recognition from SCORE and are just two of the successful businesses that SCORE is proud to have served.

SCORE has expanded its relationship with USC Aiken in 2015. Three professors are actively engaged in the programs of SCORE, and several students in the USC Aiken School of Business Administration participate in activities with the SCORE mentors.

All SCORE services are provided to clients and local businesses at no cost. Modest annual funding from the Small Business Administration is augmented by generous contributions from local SCORE business sponsors, including:

Allegra Marketing, Print & Web

Floyd & Green Fine Jewelers

Security Federal Bank
