Six Elected to Serve on 2011 Chamber BoardThe Board of Directors of the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce recently approved six new and returning board members. They will begin their three-year terms in January 2011. Frank Thomas, Security Federal Bank, nominating committee chair and incoming board chair, said, "We have an energetic, talented group that represents both small and large business. I look forward to hearing their ideas for the Chamber and the business community and to working with them, and the entire board, in 2011."
Samantha Charles is an entrepreneur and currently has several businesses, including an equestrian lifestyles magazine called Sidelines and The Sidelines Barn Book, a regional horse business directory. In addition, she has two equestrian developments - Hatchaway Bridge Farms and the Cottages on Marion. This is Charles' second term on the Board. She currently serves as chair of the Chamber's Equine Steering Committee.
Carl Henson is the vice president of Marketing and Business Development for MAU (Management Analysis & Utilization, Inc.). In his position, he oversees all of MAU's sales and marketing efforts. Under his guidance, the company has become one of the largest employers in South Carolina.
John N. Lindsay currently serves as manager of Communications and Public Affairs in support of Savannah River Remediation's (SRR) American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) projects at the Department of Energy's Savannah River Site. Prior to joining SRR, John served as director of Communications and Public Affairs at the Idaho National Laboratory.
Deidre Martin is the vice chancellor for University Advancement at USC Aiken. In her current role, she is responsible for the fundraising, donor relations, alumni relations, marketing, media relations, visual and web design, and continuing education efforts of the campus. This is Dr. Martin's second term on the Chamber board.
John McMichael is the business development officer and producer agent broker in Risk Management for Hutson-Etherredge Companies. He has 38 years in the insurance industry, holding various positions in marketing, sales, risk management, and claims. McMichael is a Chamber ambassador and is in the Circle of Champions. He was co-chair of Aiken's Makin' this year and will serve in the same position in 2011.
Steve Wilson joined SRP Federal Credit Union as the vice president of branches, eastern division in 2006. He came to the credit union with over 30 years of experience in the industry. His responsibilities as vice president of branches include oversight and guidance of the credit union's 21 branches. This is Wilson's second term on the Chamber Board.
