Stevens named Ambassador of the Year

January 24, 2018

Jeremy Stevens, business development manager, Wayne’s Automotive and Towing Center, was named the 2017 Ambassador of the Year at the Chambers First Friday Means Business in January.

Valerie Thomas-Umsted, commercial sales and marketing for Tyler Sanitation, served as the chair of the ambassador team in 2017. In her words, “Jeremy has taken being an ambassador to the next level. Life is a photo op for him, not just selfies with everyone at every event but video, FB Live, Twitter, Instagram and SnapChat. All of these are avenues of promoting the Aiken Chamber of Commerce and its mission.”

Stevens says, “I love being a part of the growth of Aiken, and I enjoy showing new businesses that Aiken appreciates them. The rewards of the program are the relationships I have built in the Chamber and in the community.”

This was Stevens’ first year as an ambassador, and he has affectionately been named the “Ambassador King” by his fellow ambassadors.

One fellow ambassador said, “We jokingly call him the Ambassador King because he is so good in his role, but he acts more like a King’s most loyal and trusted servant. He brings a smile and a servant’s heart everywhere he goes.”

The Aiken Chamber’s 56-member ambassador team, represents a cross section of the Chamber membership. Ambassadors have a prominent position of responsibility in the business community. They act as the Chamber’s primary liaisons for new and existing members and are highly visible at Chamber events assisting staff and members as needed. They assist new Chamber members by introducing them to the benefits and services of membership and by serving as a means for members to engage in the organization.
