Two join Aiken Chamber professional team
Melissa Viola and Sherri Siler are the newest professional team members at the Aiken Chamber of Commerce.
Viola is the information services coordinator for the Chamber. In her position she provides information to Chamber members and guests, assists with relocation questions, updates and maintains the Chamber’s website, serves as the Aiken Young Professional and SCORE liaison, and supports the Chamber’s goals and initiatives. She will also work with the Young Entrepreneur Academy when it begins its second year this fall.
Viola holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with double majors in marketing and management with an entrepreneurial concentration and double minors in advertising and public relations from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Before joining the Chamber in May, she worked as a paralegal at the Law Offices of Tom Young, Jr., PC, for almost six years.
“When the opportunity arose to join the Chamber in a professional capacity, I knew it was an opportunity that I could not pass up. I have volunteered with the Chamber for over five years, and I am excited to be on the professional team at an organization that I am passionate about,” said Viola. “Using my knowledge of entrepreneurship to help with the Young Entrepreneurs Academy and continuing my passion for the development of Aiken’s young professionals are two initiatives that I look forward to developing further.”
Viola was recognized in 2014 as the MVP (Most Valuable Professional) of the Aiken Young Professionals. She has been a member of Aiken Young Professionals since 2010, served on the steering committee for three years, and was the chair of the organization in 2013.
Chamber President/CEO J. David Jameson said, “I was impressed with Melissa when she served as chair of the Aiken Young Professionals, and I continue to be impressed by her knowledge, adaptability and dedication to the Chamber’s mission.”
Melissa and her husband, Mike, are the proud parents of twin 1-year-old boys, Connor and Jackson, who keep them happily busy.
Sherri Siler is the membership account executive for the Aiken Chamber. In this position she builds relationships with potential members and promotes the value of Chamber membership in the community. Siler is also responsible for assisting members with marketing opportunities in the Welcome Aiken community guide.
Siler said, “Owning my own business has allowed me to personally experience the benefits of Chamber membership. I feel all businesses can benefit from Chamber membership, and it is my pleasure to share the opportunities of the Aiken Chamber with others.”
Siler is not new to the Chamber. She served as a Chamber ambassador for five years, receiving the Ambassador of the Year award in 2010, and has worked as the membership account executive previously.
“Sherri is known for going above and beyond to assist current and potential members. She is a hard-working dedicated member of the Chamber team,” said Jameson.
She and her husband, Jeff, have lived in Aiken County since 1987 and own and operate CSRA Multimedia, Inc.
