Young professionals connect with community

The Aiken Chamber’s Young Professionals (AYP) launched the AYP Community Connection Facebook group in 2017 to connect its members with opportunities to serve and give back to the community.

Opportunities posted on the page range from volunteering at Hops & Hogs, Amp the Alley and Earth Day Aiken to serving at summer camps and participating in focus groups.

Many AYP members serve on boards and committees throughout Aiken. AYP Community Connection gives members a place to quickly and easily spread the word about organizations and events they are involved with in the community.

“So many of our members want to be active in the community but don’t know exactly where to start,” said AYP Chair Elizabeth Cahill. “Sometimes it’s hard to find out when and where you can help, or when you do find out about an opportunity, often it’s too late. The AYP Community Connection group gives our members a starting point, and with the help of other members and organizations, we have seen great success.”

The community is encouraged to message the AYP Community Connection Facebook group and let members know of upcoming events and how to become involved. Messages may also be sent to Melissa Viola at mviola@aikenchamber.net.

Aiken Young Professionals is an organization that brings together young professionals between the ages of 22 and 39 to develop both socially and professionally.

AYP’s next Third Thursday monthly networking event will be held July 20 at Mellow Mushroom and cohosted by Herlong & Doran Financial Group. Members and first-time guest are free. Individuals interested in attending should contact Melissa Viola at 803.641.1111 or RSVP here.
