Today’s technology trends and gadgets are moving at lightning speed; one no sooner tackles one trend before another one is on the horizon.  What was once considered fast, like the 2G, is now old school, and technology companies are scrambling to deliver anytime, anywhere, stay-connected devices worldwide to gain a competitive edge.

Technology is a hot topic everywhere – in the news, on the Internet, and in board rooms.  The world has become “mobile,” and large and small businesses around the globe are on board. They are managing, marketing, and producing results using smart phones and tablets.  They are using thousands of applications (apps) 24/7 to help them work faster, smarter, and while on-the-move.

The Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce is offering its members an opportunity to get on the mobile track with “iBusiness 101 – Androids, Apps, and Ipads,” a Business Academy designed to provide information and answer questions on all the new mobile technology available today.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Benefits of Smartphones
  • 3G vs. 4G technology

  • What are Tablets?
  • How can they help you?

  • What are Apps?
  • How can they help your business?

The Business Academy presenters are Joey Howard, Verizon, and Marcia L. Allen, Geeks4You.

Joey Howard is the store and data account manager for the Aiken Verizon store.  He has been in various positions with the company for the past nine years.  In his current position, he meets with local businesses to create solutions that help them become more efficient while providing a return on their investment.  He focuses on providing solutions that completely “mobilize” the company’s workforce.

Marcia L. Allen is the owner of Geeks4You, LLC, a technology company that specializes in information system and ERP consulting services, remote support PC or laptop assistance, and mobile development services. She is a management professional with 34 years of experience in providing leading edge technology and engineering business solutions, leadership, and strategic direction.

The cost of the Business Academy is $25 for an individual, or $100 for a group of five.

Sponsors of the Business Academy are Geeks 4 You and MAU Workforce Solutions.  Refreshments will be provided by Wayne's Automotive and Towing Center.
