Does your business have a disaster recovery plan?
Natural and manmade disasters can happen any time day or night. They can be caused by hurricanes,
tornadoes, floods, and computer malfunctions that can lead to breach of confidentiality or lost sales. Other
disasters can come from accidents, hazardous material spills, infrastructure failure, and criminal activity.
If your business experiences any of these disasters, will you be ready with a continuity plan to keep your business running?
Small business owners invest a tremendous amount of time, money and resources to make their ventures successful, yet, many owners fail to properly plan and prepare for disaster situations. According to the Institute for Business and Home Safety, an estimated 25 percent of businesses do not reopen following a major disaster.
The Aiken Chamber of Commerce plans to help its members prepare for the unthinkable, and to keep their business doors open following a disaster, at the Spring Business Academy. “Disaster Recovery – Will Your Plan Keep You in Business?” will be held at the Chamber Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 8 to 10 a. m.
Professionals from EDTS, Concept HR, and Hutson-Etherredge Companies will discuss common recovery plan areas of concern and provide sample plans and checklists to help businesses prepare their own disaster plans.
The event is designed for those who have no disaster plan, are working on one, or who already have a disaster plan that may need to be reviewed and updated.
Sponsors of the Business Academy are EDTS, LLC and Wayne's Automotive and Towing Center.
