Local news anchor to address Women in Business
WJBF-TV 6 News Anchor Jennie Montgomery says she looks forward to speaking at the Aiken Chamber’s Women in Business fall luncheon next month
The upcoming event, to be held Wednesday, November 20, at Newberry Hall, will feature the award winning broadcast journalist
Montgomery will share her experiences, as well as lessons learned, in front of the camera and behind the scenes where she juggles work, family and community service.
Attendees will hear sound business and personal advice, as well as be entertained by humorous anecdotes from Montgomery, who has received bronze and silver awards for Humor Columnists from Parenting Publications of America.
Montgomery, who has been with WJBF since 1995, co-anchors the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts at the TV station in Augusta.
She has been recognized three times by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters (GAB) as Best On-Air Personality. The GAB has also awarded her a GABBY for Best Documentary (“Little Boys Lost”) and a Merit Award for Best Series (“Deadly Hot Cars”). In 2008 she earned a prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for her documentary on short term medical mission trips, “Mission to Nicaragua.”
Over the years, readers of Augusta Magazine have voted Montgomery Best News Anchor. In addition, she received the Augusta West Rotary Club’s Louis Harris Media Award in 2006 for outstanding professional and civic contributions to the Augusta community.
Originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina, Montgomery earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.
