Are you considering starting a business? Are you in business and considering expanding? If you answered yes to either question, you should plan to attend the next free seminar offered by the local SCORE office and the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Paul Newsom, an associate professor of finance at USC Aiken and volunteer SCORE counselor will help attendees evaluate the financial aspects of a proposed business project at the event Friday, May 27, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., at the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce, 121 Richland Avenue E., Aiken.
Topics covered will include:
- - Determining which financials should be used to evaluate a proposed business project
- Understanding working and fixed capital
- Understanding pro forma income statements
- Interpreting cash flow
Greater Aiken SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow and succeed in Aiken, Barnwell and Edgefield counties. SCORE is a partner with the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce and has provided no-cost mentoring to small-business owners in the area since 2004. Modest annual funding from the Small Business Administration is augmented by generous contributions from local SCORE business sponsors, including: Allegra Marketing, Print & Web, Floyd & Green Fine Jewelers, Security Federal Bank, Southern Bank and Trust.
