In today's competitive economy, good service is nice but, it will not keep customers from looking at your competition. You need awesome, incredible and WOW service consistently.
Creating a customer service culture – the secret sauce in retaining employees and increasing your bottom line will be the topic of the Aiken Chamber’s Spring Business Academy.
Lisa Tharp-Bernard, VP, HR Nuclear & Environment and MS Talent Management for AECOM will be the facilitator of the four-hour highly interactive workshop being held Thursday, May 11, at the Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation from 8 a.m. to noon.
“We are all in the business of service; whether it’s cleaning up South Carolina’s largest environmental risk at Savannah River Site, running a storefront, or operating a small business out of your home…we all have customers, clients and stakeholders. All of which are crucial to the success of our businesses.” said Tharp-Bernard.
Effective communication, discovering behavior styles through the DISC assessment and dealing with difficult people are a few of the topics that will be covered. The workshop is designed to be highly interactive, educational and fun.

MEET THE SPEAKER
Tharp-Bernard joined AECOM in 2003 and over the past 14 years has held leadership positions in areas of human resources, communications, marketing, strategic planning, employee development and training.
In her current role, she is responsible for Leadership & Organizational Development, Training, Employee Engagement and Internal Communications for the AECOM businesses that engage with government clients across the world. This operating group has over 18,000 employees globally.
Additionally, she directs the management, strategy and leadership of the Human Resources function for the Nuclear and Environment Strategic Business Unit.
Tharp-Bernard is very involved in the Aiken community and has participated in many fundraising events for various charities. She has also served as a board member for Aiken Downtown Development Association, Aiken Community Playhouse, Aiken Center for the Arts, Aiken Technical College, The American Red Cross - Aiken and serves on the HR committee for the Green Boundary Club. She received her B.A. degree from the University of South Carolina – Aiken and is married to Brian Bernard.
